Green Pool Fix

Green Pool

Got a green pool? Let’s change that

A green or cloudy pool can feel overwhelming, yucky, and ruin the entire vibe of your backyard. If you’re tired of looking at it and making excuses for it, we’re here to help.

The truth is, every green pool is different, from the colour and clarity to the depth of algae and the condition of your filter. So there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.

Your pool should be a centrepiece of your backyard, not an afterthought. At Pool Living, we’ve helped stagnant pools that had been left for over a year be restored within days. With honest advice and reliable solutions, we’ll get your pools back to their great self.

The results are always satisfying. You’ll hardly believe it’s the same pool!

Why do pools turn green?

A green pool doesn’t happen overnight. Instead, it’s a sign that your water’s chemistry has low chlorine levels and poor sanitisation, which allows microscopic algae spores to grow.

Here are some common reasons for green pools:

Low Chlorine or Sanitiser Levels

Low chlorine or sanitiser levels

The most common cause, usually due to hot weather, rain, or heavy pool use.

Poor Filtration or Circulation

Poor filtration or circulation

If your pump or filter isn’t running long enough, water becomes stagnant, which can cause algae growth.

Unbalanced pH and Alkalinity

Unbalanced pH and alkalinity

These can affect your optimum chlorine levels and cause green water.

Organic Debris

Organic debris

Leaves, dirt, and sunscreen residue can feed algae if not removed quickly.

Weather

Weather & neglect

Storms, temperature spikes, or leaving the pool unattended for too long.

So if you have a green pool, don’t wait for it to get worse (because it will!). Contact our team today to get it fixed.

Our green pool fix in 3 steps

1

Assessment and quote

We’ll firstly assess and give you a transparent quote by asking a few simple questions:

  • What colour is the water (i.e. light green, dark green, or almost black? )
  • Can you see the pool floor, or is the water opaque?
  • What’s the approximate size or volume of your pool (and spa, if applicable)?
  • How long has the pool been green or out of use?
2

Recovery

Most green pools are fully restored within 3 to 4 days. Here’s how we’ll do it:

  • Shock the water – Killing algae and bacteria with concentrated chemicals.
  • Flock the pool – Binding fine pool particles together to remove them easily.
  • Vacuum sediment – Removing all debris from the pool floor.
  • Apply algaecide – To stop algae from regrowing and bring back clarity
  • Test & repeat – Checking your pool’s progress daily and reapplying if needed.
